Empowering our clients

My Hero

We want our clients to feel in control of their finances, so in this section, we’ve given you some links to a few websites that can help you.

You also have access at all times to our free knowledge centre where you will find a copy of our latest Independent James money magazine and our financial guides.

"They offered superb advice throughout and made things easy to understand. They are always on top of everything and will answer any questions, responding very quickly."

Miss L Bearpark

It can be daunting to think that you could actually begin to understand the financial services industry but it is possible; it’s not rocket science.

From our point of view, the more you understand, the less cause for disappointment or confusion; and you will see how our service can help you thrive financially

Be your own financial expert

One of the main aims of the Financial Conduct Authority’s treating customers fairly initiative was to increase consumer understanding of the advice process.

This is combined with the principle of ‘Caveat Emptor’ – or ‘let the buyer beware’.

This means there is a responsibility on you, the client, to take steps to ensure that, for example, you read the documentation provided to you and that you are taking reasonable care to ensure the information provided to us is correct.

The mortgage industry

The CML is the trade association for the lending industry, and this site contains some excellent calculators and consumer guides on mortgages and the home buying process.

Consumer finance groups

Set up by the government and funded by a levy on the financial services industry, the Money Advice Service aims to help everyone manage their money better.

The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free information and advice.

ARLA is the leading professional body for those letting in the private rented sector.

Finally, as mentioned previously, we have a wide range of financial guides and up to date financial news and views in our knowledge centre.

If you have a complaint or dispute with us, you are entitled to make a complaint. We have a complaints procedure that is available on request. If you wish to register a complaint, please contact us either in writing, by telephone or email.

Please be assured we treat complaints seriously.

For your protection if you cannot settle your complaint with us, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service (known also as Fos).

Contact Us for further information on any issues raised in this section.
